A run of almost exclusively good news this week on the COVID-19 front continued today, as the province's active caseload saw a modest drop. The Saskatchewan Health Authority recorded just one new case of COVID-19 and announced three recoveries.

The lone case of COVID-19, located in the far north region, takes the province up to 649 total cases since the first case was discovered in mid-March. According to Premier Scott Moe, the seven-day total of cases this week was the lowest in a week since cases first appeared in the province.

The three recoveries, meanwhile, inch the province ahead to 611 in total. Even better, however, is that one of these new recoveries was a person in an intensive care unit in Saskatoon. Just one person is in the hospital as of today, also in an intensive care unit in Saskatoon.

Active cases in the province have now dipped down to 27. Of those 27 cases, 17 are in the far north, two are in the north, three are in Saskatoon, four are in Regina, and one is in the South. There are no active cases in the central region.

As of this writing, Saskatchewan has performed 50,597 COVID-19 tests. The most recent data (June 3) shows Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 38,346 people tested per million population. Canadian provinces are testing, on average, 47,552 people per million.
