Construction began again on King Street in Estevan. However, this time, traffic will be allowed to pass through.

"We are not allowing any traffic to come into King Street," explained City Engineer, Kiflom Weldeab, "but King Street itself is open. It is reduced to two lanes, two way traffic. It will remain open during the construction but Arthur or any other roads on the north side will not be able to come into King Street."

He also provided an update on the work that is being done.

"We have started the milling of the roadway and it will continue until it's done. We are taking two inches from the surface and we will put two inches back. Then we will resurface it after milling is completed."

Milling could be done as soon as today or Friday and then once that's complete then they will start the asphalt work.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes. If you must drive down King Street while construction is going on, you are asked to obey all road signs and posted speed limits.

The Estevan Police Service will be in the area and provide enforcement.
