The Town of Kipling was among the communities in the southeast to receive federal and provincial grants towards infrastructure. They, like several other towns in the region, are using the money to upgrade their water systems.

Chief Administration Officer Cheryl Dakue shared an outline of their plans.

"The scope of the project is to change our present water source, which is surface water, to well water. Then we're going to do some treatment upgrades to our aging plant and install an RO (Reverse Osmosis) system at the end of it."

She notes that it is something that wouldn't have happened if they hadn't been a recipient of the funds.

Dakue also expressed the importance of the venture.

"When you are on surface water you only have so much capacity. If we are going to continue to grow, this is something that is extremely important to address.

She concludes by stating that the town Council's goal is to ensure that there is a good, sustainable source of water for Kipling for many years to come.
