Local figure, Jackie Wall partnered with Community Futures were in Carlyle last night to do a presentation on e-commerce.

Wall sells her artwork among other things online and with her gathered experience, Community Futures wanted her to speak at their gathering.

She did her presentation on how her journey in online sales got started and how she was able to establish her business through the power of the internet.

In the end, Wall was very happy with how things turned out.

"It was a really great turnout, there was a real wide range of participants, home-based business, people just starting, some local retailers I believe, so it was a really great mix of people that came out."

She continued, adding that she was able to have a lot of constructive conversation with the people in attendance and in sharing ideas.

Wall said it was also educational for her.

"You always learn a lot and that's why I like to be able to have these opportunities, talk to other people, get their perspective on things, the challenges that they are facing in their businesses. The way that online sales are affecting the brick and mortar businesses so we had some of the conversation on that, and those are all conversations that we need to have."

At present-day Wall isn't sure whether or not she will do another one of these presentations and said that it will depend on desire from the public. In the meantime, she is very grateful to the guests who attended and to Community Futures who asked her to present.
