The month of March in Saskatchewan has been designated brain health awareness month. The  Saskatchewan brain injury association has taken the task of informing the public about the brain and why it's so important to care not just for mental health but the physical health of the brain itself. Glenda James The Executive director of the Saskatchewan Brain injury association had a lot to say about the topic

"We want to encourage people to take care of there brains, you know the brain is the one organ that we can't replace, that you can't fix so you really need to take care of your brain."

Caring for an organ that you can't see, touch, or feel can be a little difficult but like with all health care issues, a little common sense goes a long way.

"There's a lot of research going on about the brain and the more they learn the more they realize because the brain controls everything, really developing healthy habits is really important to brain health. some of them are pretty standard like eat well and exercise, I have to say that  there is a lot of research showing that exercise is more important then perhaps we realize. but rest is equally important."

The  Saskatchewan Brain injury association is a charity that strives to help prevent brain injuries and to improve the lives of survivors and their families and because of that, all services they offer to people with brain injuries are free of charge.
