The Midale Public Library has been going through some changes within its small, but diverse space. The Librarian at the Midale Public Library has a lot to do with it, Vanessa Lund taking on this small space and revamping it to accommodate a larger group within.

Lund on the current repairs they have going on, "We have just started painting the library, thought it was time for an update. The new slogan for the Southeast Regional Library is 'Not the Library you Remember." In keeping with that we have decided to make a few changes to our tiny, but mighty library. So with the help of the Town of Midale, RM of Cymri, the Sask Lotteries grant, and the Plus One Club we are making our space a more functional, beautiful, and fun place to be."

They are not done just yet, with more changes underway Lund shares, "We are still working on a few more physical changes to the library, we are working on getting a few smaller desks so that we have more space. Right now the way it stands, we get a couple of kids in here and we are pretty full."

Every summer the Midale Public Library has its summer reading club, to encourage literacy in the community. Lund shares about this years kick off, "We are going to bring in a magician from Moose Jaw, he is going to do a magic program all about libraries. So that will be our launch party for the TD summer reading club, and it's in conjunction with the launch for the pool which is right next door as well."

Free programming is a huge part of the Southeast Libraries and Midale is doing a few of them for the public, "We have our weekly Friday morning programs, called Come Read, Sing, and Play. It's for children 18 months to 5 years old and their families. They come together, we read books, we do songs and dance, do crafts, the kids love it. We do that every Friday morning. We also have free Zumba Monday nights, we always have lots of fun programs going on and they are all absolutely free to the public." Lund goes on to thank, "It is thanks to the Community Initiatives Fund that we are able to provide all our programming."
