Folks in the southeast are zipping up their warmer jackets once again, as winter begins to consider making it's way back to the region, and that includes the residents of Midale, where preparations are underway.

"Our town crew is getting everything ready for the winter season. They're getting culverts looked at, and they're getting all the equipment, making sure all our winter equipment's ready to go, and most of that's ready to go in the spring," shared Mayor Al Hauglum, adding that the rinks are preparing for another sporting season as well.

"The ice is probably starting to go in now. They did do some upgrades this summer in the rink, they put heaters out in the stands this fall, so it's a little more comfortable watching any of the activities going on in there in the winter time. I think they're looking at firing the curling rink up in early November."

Temperatures have been steadily hanging below zero overnight, and a chance of flurries may be in the forcast for next week, sure signs of the season's change.
