Progress is continuing on the Highway 39 twinning project east of Estevan.

That said, those crews aren't the only ones who are laboring in the area, as those working with the mines are performing their duties in close proximity. According to Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure spokesperson Steve Shaheen, the two groups make sure that they communicate in order to stay out of each other's way.

"As with any project, we work closely with our stakeholders to ensure that there is safe and efficient access. We certainly have a good relationship with the mine, and traffic from there has not interfered with the construction."

In addition, he mentioned that work is ongoing near Carlyle, where some turning lanes are being installed at the east junction of Highway 9.

"That's currently under construction, and we encourage drivers to reduce their speeds. There is a sharp drop-off of pavement, so that's one of the reasons we like to stress that it's always important to obey those signs that are posted. Sometimes you may not see people working in the area, but we always encourage them to slow down when they do see those signs because there could be some loose stones. We want to ensure that motorists keep themselves and their vehicles free from any damage."
