Yesterday marked National Love Your Pet Day across Canada and plenty of people celebrated accordingly. From pictures on Facebook and Instagram to maybe even adopting a pet of your own.

Elizabeth Murphy is the Manager at the Estevan Humane Society and said all the animals were pampered a little extra on February 20.

"We celebrated by giving all the animals at the shelter a little bit of extra love and cuddles and treats," Murphy said. "A little bit of extra spoiling that we don't normally do."

As winter winds down and we inch closer to springtime, the time is right for those looking to adopt a pet from the shelter. Murphy noted they have plenty of different animals with all different types of personalities. There's bound to be something for everyone.

"We have all kinds of dogs, different shapes and sizes. All really nice and friendly guys looking for homes. We have lots of cats looking for homes as well," she explained.

Their featured animal right now is Tiny. He, like many other animals at the Humane Society, has been looking for a home for a while now.

"We're featuring our big loveable teddy bear dog, Tiny. He's a Saint Bernard crossed with a Great Pyrenees," Murphy said. "He's a bit bigger of a dog and we're really hopeful we can find him his forever home right away. He's been looking for a new home for at least the past year."

The Humane Society was open late on Wednesday and will help anyone out who's looking to adopt a new furry friend.
