We have survived record amounts of snowfall, and extremely cold temperatures so far this winter. Now it looks like we might get a bit of a break. But how long will it last?

Environment Canada Regional Meteorologist Sam McDonald explained what is behind this warm-up.

"We have a strong flow in the upper levels of the atmosphere which is pushing eastward, a bringing very mild Pacific air with it across the Rockies and into the Eastern Prairies."

He mentioned that temperatures will be above the freezing mark for most of the week.

"We may even see some record high temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday, as they get up to that plus 5-6 range."

He also notes that no precipitation is expected for the next 5-6 days.

McDonald concludes by noting,

"It looks like a nice little break from 'Old Man Winter'."
