With Thanksgiving long weekend here, the RCMP will be making plans to increse patrols to help keep everyone safe while traveling this weekend. Cpl. Craig Park with the Estevan RCMP shares, "We are always trying to make more of a presence on long weekends or anytime there's increased activity on the highways. We are trying to make the roads safer for travelers. With the increase in activity, you can be expected to see more police cars on the highways, possible check stops, and all the usual things that go on with a long weekend."

"If we can keep those speeds to a safe speed it makes our jobs a little easier. The worst part of our job is no doubt having to tell a loved one that someone they love had been a fatal collision, no one wants to have to do that during the holidays. The objective of long weekends and incresment of enforcement is to avoid those tough conversations and keep people safe."

The RCMP ask everyone to remember to be safe on the road this long weekend.
