John Paul Cragg with Environment Canada describing what we can expect for the next few days. Daytime highs in the mid-30° mark are expected by the weekend, close to not only single day records, but the warmest August day ever in Estevan.

The average high for August 9th is 27.1oC while we're expecting a high of 33oC today and 38oC tomorrow. The highest temperature recorded on August 9th is 36.1oC in 1958, and the highest recorded temperature on August 10th was 35.9oC in 1987.

The heat is expected to last through until next week, although there will be a slight decrease in temperatures starting on Sunday. There is also little chance of any precipitation, as the system is keeping humidity down. The upside is a lower humidex value, which results in temperatures close to the forecasted high.

The system bringing the heat to Weyburn is also bringing a haze to the sky, as a result of smoke from forest fires in British Columbia. The smoke prompted Environment Canada to issue a special air quality statement.
