Brad Hutton the Redvers Fire Chief has been awarded the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Business & Community Excellence Award Committee.

Hutton on how he feels about winning the award, "It's very exciting it's exciting in the fact that people see that you volunteer and the time, And knowing that people have your back for the things that you do, you don't always think people realize how much effort you put into the community. So it's a really nice award to have and be recognized for the work that's being done." He goes on to share that he couldn't even count the amount of time he has volunteered, "In my spare time you put in a few hours here and there, and I guess over time it could add up to over the years."

He goes on to share that it is not hard to put as much time as he does into the community as it doesn't seem like work, "I enjoy the fire department, I've been the Fire Chief for a number of years now, keeping the guys up to speed on training and practice. I enjoy that role getting new equipment and we feel very fortunate in Redvers as we have been doing up the budget. We got a new fire hall a couple of years ago, and then we've upgraded the fire trucks over the past 5 or 6 years I would say. Very fortunate with the different equipment we have for rescues, that we can perform and do."

Hutton has been involved in the Redvers Recreation Board since 2008 and has been the Chairman for the past 8 years. He has worked hard to help ensure the facility is running whether it is the ball diamonds, the hockey ice or winterizing the pool. Brad is also the Chief of the Redvers Fire Department and has been involved in the department since 1999. Brad has spent time helping out with the Redvers Curling Club, planning the fireman rodeo during Canada Day and organizing the main Street Bonfire during Winter Fest. "We're doing a big swimming pool project, between me and the board, and the rec director in town has played a huge role in moving forward. And just the everyday sporting stuff with the rink and curling club. Upgrades on the baseball diamonds and the sporting grounds."

Hutton humbly was not expecting this award and is very thankful to the community for supporting him and all the hard work he does.
