On May 15, 2017, at the Regway Border Crossing, border officers located a .380 caliber pistol. The firearm was loaded with a round in the chamber. As a result, a Wisconsin man was arrested and paid a penalty of $1,000. He was then released and allowed to return to the United States.

As of May 23, CBSA officers in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba have seized 36 undeclared firearms in 20 separate incidents.

The majority of the firearms seized were from US travellers coming through Canada en route to a different US location.
