As crews from both the City and the Ministry of Highways put in overtime to clear the roads, local residents are putting in the unseen work to get the job done as well.

Maintenance man Roland Coutre was found hard at work Wednesday morning at Hillview Manor, a large shovel in hand and an overflowing load of snow in the scoop.

"I've been at it since Sunday night, and then on Monday I put in 12 hours, and then today, again," he said.

"I've been going for about 3 days. Both snowblowers are down, so I'm doing the whole building by hand. I have to do around the whole building as well, trails and all, the front sidewalks, the driveway."

"It's keeping me busy," he added.

Residents were out in force throughout the Energy City as soon as the storm was over, cleaning driveways and sidewalks with everything from shovels to snowblowers.
