It's been a busy season for City of Estevan crews and their contractors, as they labor to fix up the streets around town.

The latest project was the laying of a small stretch of asphalt on Sister Roddy Road, up to Wellock Road, about 100 to 150 meters in all.

According to City Engineer Kifloum Weldeab, that has been finished.

"The construction was completed on Friday. We closed the area off over the weekend, mainly because we wanted the fresh asphalt to cure. We also have some clean up to do Monday morning."

He shared that they hope to reopen the strip on Tuesday, after everything is tidied.

That said, they are already looking ahead to the next job.

"It will be King Street, from Souris to Arthur Avenue. This will be in August," noted Weldeab.

He also expressed his gratefulness to the citizens for their support.

"Little by little, the town is getting cleaner and cleaner. I thank the public for their patience, and letting us do what we need to do."
