It looks like winter was attempting revenge for the recent mild weather with a brief bout of wet snow on Thursday morning. It didn't take long, however, for that to melt away and dry up.

That said, Environment Canada Regional Meteorologist Natalie Hasell says that we could experience some more of the white stuff within the next few days.

"We see a low pressure system coming through on the weekend, where we have periods of snow on Saturday and probably tapering off by Sunday. It doesn't look like it's going to stick around for very long."

"Looking at the overall picture, it appears temperatures have returned to normal. We had a flow from the north settle in and we saw the passage of a cold front, so we are no longer in the very warm, balmy conditions. We're back to the frozen stuff falling from the sky," she noted.

She also expressed that hypothermia is still a risk if someone is exposed to the elements for too long, even in mild weather.

Harsell revealed that the melting and freezing could create some slick roads, and Constable Daniel Gaignard with the Estevan RCMP shared some advice about staying safe out there.

"It is winter driving conditions, so act accordingly. Give yourself more time to stop."

"We have had a little bit of a treat with this weather lately, but it's time to get back to the swing of driving in the winter again as long as it lasts," he added.

The recent snow also had City of Estevan crews out with their sand trucks. Roads and Drainage Manager Norm Mack said that, while Thursday's precipitation was nothing significant, they realize that winter is not over.

"Our snow removal equipment is not put away for the rest of the winter by any means. We're always watching the forecast and monitoring the streets."
