School is back in session after a week-long break, and some of the children continued to learn over the break by taking advantage of the Souris Valley Museum's winter camps. The camps are filled with games, crafts and learning about different themes and their histories such as the history of Estevan or Canada or Rock and Roll. The children in attendance had a lot of fun and learned many new things.

"Our winter breaks have been very well attended and very successful," explained Mark Veneziano, curator for the museum. "Both of our camps, the morning camp and the afternoon camp have been full. We've had fun learning about snow, ice and winter animals during the mornings with the 3 to 5-year-olds and in the afternoons, we've had fun learning about the history of 'Rock and Roll' and the history of Canada, and Estevan during the different eras. So we started day one with the 1940s and ended today [Friday] with the 2000s."

Both camps that ran during the school break were completely booked with children. Mark Veneziano, curator for the museum expected the camps to be full.

"Last year was our first year that we were able to do winter camps and our turnout there was excellent; we were full then too. A lot of the community does take advantage of our camps during the winter breaks, spring breaks and of course during the summer, with summer being our busiest season."

They are looking forward to continuing to hold camps on the days that children are out of school and suggest that anyone that is interested or wants to know more about their camps and children programs to call the museum, check out their facebook page or stop by the museum.
