The Saskatchewan government announced Monday that funding for the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS) in Saskatchewan has been renewed.

The Ministry of Health, along with SaskPower, SaskEnergy, SaskTel and Crown Investment Corporation are all involved in the renewed funding agreement, with each Crown contributing $2 million per year over the next five years to STARS, which has bases in Saskatoon and Regina.

Since arriving in Saskatchewan in 2012, STARS has flown 4,000 missions to over 500 locations in the province. Additionally, four new helipads have been built since 2012 at or near hospitals, including the one at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Estevan.
