The members of Estevan's City Council will once again convene in the chambers of City Hall for their regular meeting tonight.

That said, a number of items are on the docket for discussion and decision, and Mayor Roy Ludwig outlined a few of the highlights.

"The Provincial Women of Saskatchewan Council is looking at having established a center for women in need of assistance within our area. That's something that we'll be taking a serious look at. Of course we would probably need provincial assistance on it, so we'll see where that goes."

Another topic on the agenda is the renaming of one of the roads in town.

"Mr. Bernie Collins is a past mayor of our city, and has done a lot of important things within our community. He's belonged to many clubs and organizations. We've had a request, and council has agreed with it, to have a street named on his behalf. Of course, since times have been slow, and we haven't had a lot of development in the last couple of years, we haven't been able to make that happen," explained Ludwig.

"A suggestion was made to look at Woodlawn Avenue, and because we don't have any addresses along that route itself, we wouldn't have to look at a lot of post office box changes and whathaveyou. Council will looking at giving first reading to changing Woodlawn Avenue to Collins Road."

"I think it should be another productive meeting. We look forward to Monday night," he concluded.
