It's not exactly breaking news that southern Saskatchewan has received well below average rainfall. Regional Meteorologist, John Paul Cragg provided some numbers that show just how little rain fell.

"In June, the Estevan airport picked up 41.3 mm of precipitation and the average 74.8 mm."

He adds that July was the driest month of the summer.

"July only had 21 mm according to the station in Estevan. On average, Estevan should see around 67.5 mm."

"August saw a little bit of an increase in precipitation, August up to 28.7 average 51.7 mm of rain."

"September so far has seen 22.5 mm of precipitation. That was thanks to 17 mm that was picked up at the airport on September 15 so that was a decent rainfall. The average for September is 36.1 mm of precipitation. So still a bit of a ways to go to get to the average but closer to the average than we saw in June July or August."
