As the old saying goes, there's two things in life you can guarantee: death, and taxes. With the tax season coming soon, it's important to check up on some of the major things that may have changed to the upcoming season.

"Not major changes but in Saskatchewan we do have the new Climate Action Incentive," says local accountant Lucus Paulus.

The incentive comes in as a way for people to help reimburce them with the carbon pricing coming in April.

"So basically what's happening is Revenue Canada is going to be adding a refundable tax credit to Saskatchewan tax returns to offset the carbon capture (in the province) and all the prices going up for families."

When it comes to who is eligible, anyone over the age of 18 who lived in Saskatchewan by the end of 2018 should qualify for the incentive on their tax form.

Some of this is still subject to change as the final tax forms have not been sent out by Revenue Canada yet but should be coming out soon.

For those that may be taking their first job and have not ever filed taxes before, there is a few things to take in to account.

"Let's say they're fifteen years old, they have a part time job, they might be able to get some CPP back, they might be able to get some tax back if it was taken, if they didn't make very much at all, there might be a little bit of Employment Insurance they can get back."

Finally, a reminder that even if you've got a job and you're under the age of 18, taxes still need to be filed.
