There are 15 Member Agency groups who benefit directly from the Estevan United Way. One of those groups is Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan.

"Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan was established over 50 years ago," shared Larry Carlson, Client Service Coordinator, "and it continues to assist individuals with spinal cord injuries, disabilities to achieve independence, self-reliance, and full community participation."

He shared that the funds they receive from the United Way goes towards a peer support program.

"We feel that a person who has experienced a spinal cord injury is the best person to talk to another one. Talking about the kinds of challenges I've had, the kinds of ways I've overcome particular things and sometimes talking about shared problems."

"We all have a story to tell and we don't always realize how encouraging we might be to someone else."

The Telethon runs until 5 PM Saturday evening.

Donations can be made over the phone at 306-340-4626, online or in person at the Estevan Legion.
