Heavy winds and rain continued to fall in Estevan throughout Friday afternoon into the evening, and according to Environment Canada, the worst of the thunderstorm is now in the review mirror.

"It looks like the worst is through the Estevan area now," explained Environment Canada's Chris Stammers on Friday night. "There was certainly some active weather coming through, we had a 96 km/hr wind reported at the Estevan Airport with 30 mm of rain in the last 24 hours."

A severe thunderstorm watch continued after 7:30 p.m, which won't last for too much longer after that. Strong winds and a chance of rain is expected on Saturday morning, before it clears up into Sunday.

Estevan Police could be seen blocking off the back lane behind the Orpheum Theatre due to a lightning strike on a SaskPower Pole.

Several residents are currently without power and crews are working to fix the problem.
