A fundraiser was held in Glen Ewen on Saturday evening in support of Tracey Arnold.

"The whole southeast corner in Saskatchewan is supporting me in my adventure with the Women’s National Sledge Hockey team and I appreciate everyone coming out," said Tracey Arnold. "The funds are going to go directly to supporting me with my travels and such because I’m playing sledge hockey at a national level and the women’s team is still developing so it’s a pay to play sports right now. So the funds are going to help me with that and I really appreciate it."

The event featured a 50/50 draw, silent auction and Chinese auction with many items from baked goods to woodworks, to gift cards and jewelry.  Chris Henderson performed a few songs for all in attendance to show his support for Tracey and Tracey spoke about her journey to the Women's National Sledge Hockey team.

"When I was younger, I played standup hockey and then when I was 12, my family was in a car accident. I was paralyzed and was struggling to find a sport that I wanted to play. I originally went to arm wrestling and traveled quite a bit extensively with that and competed provincially and nationally at a world level, but I was looking for something new.  Sledge hockey kind of fell in my lap one day, about five years ago. I did a trial with the Saskatoon Ice Tornadoes which is the club that I’m in right now and the rest is pretty well history. I picked it up really quickly and I fell back in love with hockey."

Tracey and the organizers of the fundraiser are thankful to all who came out to show their support. About 100 people were in attendance, many of Tracey's family and friends came out to show their support, or donated an item to the auction tables. Overall the night was truly a success.

The total funds raised to come when available.
