The City of Estevan is looking forward to working with a committee from the weight room in how to best move forward with the facility. However, what that committee will look is still unknown.

"Council made a motion to move forward with this process," explained City Manager, Jeff Ward. "We'll be looking for users to be part of a committee that will work with management and any third party consultants whether it's a fitness facility or supplier and come up with a proposal which will then be taken to council for review and comments and hopefully approval."

"During our Open House, there was a discussion in regards to users on this committee and that some of them felt that users should be appointed by the users. What we'll try to do and logistically I'm still trying to figure out exactly how we'll do this, but I believe we'll put up a sign-up sheet and hopefully, the users can come to a consensus on who they may want to represent them on this committee."

"If that doesn't work, I did indicate to Council that we'll then go to an application process and we'll have to set criteria at that point and either management or Council will be involved in maybe choosing that user group if they are not able to come up with one on their own accord."

Ward added that once the committee is formed, they will work closely with the City to come up with how best to upgrade the weight room.

"There will probably be structured meetings whether it be monthly, biweekly or quarterly, we haven't decided that yet. We'll set up timelines, start throwing some ideas together and hopefully get some kind of overhead design of what the weight room setup will look like, what equipment is being used. Just gather as much information as we can and hopefully as a unit, a user group and management unit, we can come up with a decision on how to make that facility better, more efficient and get more users there."

"There will probably be something put up in the weight room next week and then we'll move forward with that process from there and see how it goes."
