With the Prime Minister coming to Saskatchewan for the first time since last summer, meeting in Regina for a town hall to discuss the state of the middle class, the economy, and the job situation across the country, although he may not be receiving the kindest of welcomes. Members of the Yellow Vest movement will be traveling from far and wide to join in on another convoy before the town hall meeting at 5pm, including some members of the local movement in Estevan.

"I was in contact with Brenda Stepp, she's the organizer in Regina for the Yellow Vest protests," says Jay Riedel, the organizer for the protests in Estevan. "I told her if you guys get something planned there let me know and we'll try and get something planned out."

After a day of deliberation between different factions of the Yellow Vests around the province, they've made their decision to make their presence known.

"She called me back later on in the afternoon and said they talked it over and were going to get a convoy route going."

Reidel is bringing his own vehicle up to the protests in Regina as well as joining the picket line that will be outside of the town hall meeting during the question period in hopes that their message will be heard.

"I know they're trying to push a few people to show up outside to kind of protest a little bit, whether or not they whisk him out of the back door or not he's going to know it's there."

With tensions as high as they are and the name 'Yellow Vest' making it easy to compare to protests going on in France that have at times gotten violent, the protests in Canada have been peaceful and are about supporting Canadian energy, and have only taken the Yellow Vest mantle a form of symbolism.

"The only reason Canadians adopted the Yellow Vest was because in France you're required to have one in your vehicle in the sign of distress, and if Canadians aren't in distress more than anything right now, I don't know what would be."

More on this story will come after the protests. The town hall begins at 7pm, with doors opening at 5pm.
