The trend of high-scoring hockey continued for the Estevan Bruins, as they dropped an 8-5 home game to the Weyburn Red Wings Saturday night.

Estevan's previous two games were an 8-5 win over Notre Dame and an 8-6 loss to Melville.

The Bruins are 1-4-0 in their last five, while allowing no fewer than five goals in a game. They won their five games before that.

The junior A club spent time Sunday with the Settlement Workers in Schools program.

Estevan will head to west-central Saskatchewan for games Friday against the Battlefords North Stars and Saturday against the Kindersley Klippers.


The Redvers Rockets notched an 8-4 home win over the Midale Mustangs Sunday night in the Big 6 Hockey League.

Jordon Miller had two goals and three assists as Redvers improved to 4-1-0. Midale fell to 0-4-1.

Kaelan Holt lit the lamp twice and added an assist as the Bienfait Coalers beat the KW Oil Kings 6-4 in Kipling on Sunday. Taysen Holt had two assists for the Coalers, who are now 3-3-0. The Oil Kings have dropped all four of their games in regulation.

Also over the weekend, the Carlyle Cougars beat the Oil Kings 6-2 on Saturday, improving to 3-0-1. The Moosomin Rangers stayed perfect with a 10-1 win over the Wawota Flyers Friday. Redvers beat Carlyle 5-4 in a shootout on Friday. And Bienfait got by Oxbow 3-2 on Friday.


The Warman Wildcats beat the Bears 7-1 Saturday and 5-3 Sunday in Estevan.

Carter Onrait scored in both games for the Bears, bringing his goal total to 15 in 23 games.

The 11-9-3 Bears travel to Wilcox to face the 4-11-3 Notre Dame Hounds on Wednesday.


Jaxon Kuchinka turned aside all 26 shots he faced for his first shutout in the Saskatchewan AA Hockey League for the U18 Bruins, as they tamed the Swift Current Broncos 5-0 at Affinity Place on Sunday.

The Bruins killed six Broncos power plays, and are now on a six-game win streak.

Hayden Terrett scored a pair of first-period goals for Estevan, and added an assist in the second period.

The 10-2-1 Bruins visit Weyburn (5-7-1) on Wednesday.
