Saskatchewan’s livestock sector got some good news yesterday.

Speaking at the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Semi-Annual Meeting Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart announced nearly $3.5 million in Federal and Provincial funding for 24 livestock and forage-related research projects.

Stewart talks about some of the work that’s approved for funding through the Agriculture Development Fund:

Stewart said, "The is a project to research bovine respiratory disease which is an expensive disease for the industry. There is one to explore the originate in feed and particularly how that effects bull fertility. There are projects for better

forage varieties for northern climates."

Industry groups are providing additional funding, totaling more than $280,000, to several of the ADF projects.

Funding partners include Western Grains Research Foundation (WGRF), Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission, Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association (SCA) and SaskMilk.
