The community came together for an event over the weekend that raised $10,000 for a couple that had been going through medical troubles.

Vince and Bev Burkholder have been dealing with bills related to dialysis for Vince's kidney issues, putting the couple in a tough spot.

The event was held at JOLIM Church, with plenty of community members coming for the different fundraising efforts on Sunday.

A close friend of the couple Wanda Boire says the money being raised from the community was great to see.

"Oh, it just blessed my heart and I know it really touched Deb and Vincent's heart just to see the community come together like that and there were many tears shed. Let's just say that there were lots of tears. So it was great to see how the community all come together in this support and everything we were just really blessed.

During the event, they had a bake sale, raffle tickets, a silent auction, and meals for everyone who came.

Boire thanked everyone who helped out with the event which ended up raising so much money.

"I know I organized it, but I couldn't do it all on my own. You know, everybody comes together, all the support of the JOLIM church. Everybody that helped, standing behind all the tables and helping serve and all the donations that came in and people that didn't even know Bev and Vince and brought donations for them and stuff for the raffle tables and the silent auction and it was just fantastic to see the outpouring of love.
