Estevan city council gave its unanimous support Monday night for a closure on 4th Street for what was described as a "holiday festival."

Josh LeBlanc of the Downtown Business Association sent in the permit application for the 1100 and 1200 block of 4th for December 11 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Plans for the day are still being finalized, so the DBA isn't able to say exactly what the event will be this year.

Traditionally a shopping event, Moonlight Madness, is held around that time in the downtown core over one night. Last year it was expanded to two days as a safety measure during the COVID-19 pandemic.
