A 55 year-old Craven male is dead following a 2 vehicle accident yesterday near Stoughton.  Around 11:00am a semi tractor trailer carrying 193 swine was traveling southbound on Highway 47 when it collided with a truck at the 701 grid road intersection.

The semi collided with the truck on the driver side and then pushed the truck 20-30 meters south on the highway.  The driver of the truck was wearing his seat belt but had to be extracted from the vehicle.  He was transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.  The driver of the semi was uninjured and the vehicle was still operable.
