Some residences in the town of Bienfait are currently without water, due to a water break that happened over the weekend.

That combined with the current heat warning means there are a few risks for people in and around the town.

Administrator Jessica Franklin answered a few of our questions regarding the water break and what'll be happening next.

"The water main break current status is repaired, although the problem we have been facing, is that the following day(s) after the repair, a new leak will start."

Many households that are affected have water coming back most of the time during the night.

"Approximately 75 households have been affected," said Franklin, "The water has been turned off throughout the day for repairs and back on at night, there was one evening where the town could not turn the water back on for the affected residents."

She advises people to go to the water treatment plant if they need a fill of water, which is available at no cost.

There's currently no timeline for a full resumption of services, which is what crews are currently working on.

"We had expected the problem to be resolved," said Franklin, "Unfortunately after the repairs are completed, then a different problem occurs.  We are hopeful to have a solution as soon as possible. Staff and contractors have been working diligently to resolve the issues."

Some residents had stated on Facebook that the notice of a drinking water advisory came later than it should have.

Franklin says they've been working on the issue since it came up.

"As soon as the problem was reported, members of staff and council were in contact with contractors and the Water Security Agency to try to resolve it in a timely manner."
