A country musician hailing from Carlyle, Saskatchewan just released her first single, after writing the song herself and winning a contest to get it produced.

Morgan Robertson released her single Goodbye Train on Friday, being one of five winners who got the opportunity to have their songs be produced by a studio.

That contest was put on by The Henhouse Studios, a production company that works in country music and is based in Nashville, Tennesee.

Robertson recorded the vocals for the track in a studio in Regina, and the rest of the song was put together by The Henhouse.

While Goodbye Train is her first recorded single, Robertson says she's been writing songs for years, mainly for the fun of it.

It's only been in the last while, though, where she says she's felt her music is a great source of positivity.

"Probably a year and a half ago that I kinda realized like, 'oh, this is something that I'm actually doing good at and I like doing and it's helping me a lot.'" said Robertson, "I'm actually writing stuff that people, like, connect with."

Even with the single being released, Robertson is continuing with live performances, including a performance this Saturday in Regina.

She says that while she still gets a bit nervous whenever she performs, she's a lot more confident than when she started.

"Performing, it's always been kind of nervewracking for me but once I get up there (I do well)," said Robertson, "Over the past couple of months I've been doing a lot of performing over the summer and I've gotten more and more comfortable and just try to be myself. It's just the same as songwriting."

You can currently find the song on Itunes, or watch a video by The Henhouse Studios on Youtube.

Robertson says she's planning on introducing the song to more streaming services but says the process is a lot more tricky than most people would think.
