The Estevan Area Literacy Group is a not-for-profit organization formed in 2007. There are fourteen board members who guide the organization.

As a registered charity, the Estevan Area Literacy Group focuses on programs for English as a Second Language, and family and early childhood literacy. The organization is developing programs related to workplace, adult, and aboriginal literacy.

They apply for grants from various organizations to support literacy programs, including the Community Initiatives Fund, Access Communications Children’s Fund, Rotary Club of Estevan and SK Lotto's Community Grant Program. They are a member agency of the United Way of Estevan.

They offer weekly English as an Additional Language classes at the Estevan Public Library. It is a great program that continues to benefit our International Families moving into the community.

They partner with local schools and other organizations to offer Wild About Reading sessions to families with children. They are currently running book clubs in the local elementary schools for students in Grade 1 and above. In July and August, they run a children’s summer literacy program and a Summer English Fun program at a local church.

Many of the programs vary, depending on the needs of the community and the organizations with whom they partner. They often work with partners in the community to address literacy or settlement needs.

Upcoming Events that you can get involved with and meet some people in our community.
