A low pressure system that made its way through Alberta on Sunday, produced large hail and damaging winds. That system now has Saskatchewan in its path for the potential of more severe thunderstorms.

Environment Canada's Terri Laing says they have been watching the storm develop since yesterday.

"Once the sun gets working on this air-mass we are expecting thundershowers to develop, and some of those will become severe," the Regional Meteorologist explained. "There's enough support that these thunderstorms could continue through Tuesday. With lots of heat and moisture, the air-mass is really supportive of these severe storms."

"In behind the storm we could see more showers or severe weather on Tuesday."

As the Southeast corner of the province continues one of it's driest in years, rain would be welcomed by many of those in the farming industry. But, its something that doesn't come as a guarantee.

"Because we know showers and thunderstorms are spotty, we can't guarantee that everyone will get rain out of it. It's going to be a luck of the draw when it comes to getting rain, but we'll see what that low pressure system brings us.

With the potential of severe weather, Laing says people need to keep a few things in mind.

"Be weather aware. Be prepared to pull the plug on plans, once you see it coming you should retreat before the weather is upon you," she concluded.
