Plus 30 degree temperatures didn't stop our fourth Taste of Summer Charity Barbecue from going forward on Tuesday.

Our DiscoverEstevan team hosted the BBQ at the Estevan Eye Clinic in support of Limitless Disability Advocacy Services.

"The barbecue was really great. There were a lot of people there, it seemed like there were always people lined up for burgers or hot dogs and everybody was happy and out there getting some food," said Limitless Co-founder Kandyce Meili.

She said they took steps to beat the heat.

"We all definitely took turns standing in the shade, but when you're out there for a good cause you don't worry too much about the heat," Meili said.

She said they raised $1,278 which will go towards Limitless.

"We were really focusing on raising money for our Limitless Box Access program," Meili said. "We have a box at Affinity Place there, and we provide a gameday experience for families with people in their families who have disabilities."

"So they get some tickets to the game, some food up at the box, and really just get a really nice gameday experience up in one of the luxury boxes."

Meili said it's an important program that has a tremendous impact on families.

"When we talk about disabilities, that's any. So social anxiety, any kind of behavioral challenges, anything like that...it gives you a private space where you're still able to be out there enjoying the things that everybody else is enjoying, without worry of people right around you or eyes directly on you, so you're feeling a little more comfortable up there," she said.

Meili added that the organization works with people who have a wide range of disabilities.

Limitless started in 2019.
