Estevan city council has decided which play structure will be built at Churchill Park following a community survey.

That survey was issued back in December when council had received a tender that included nine different potential designs.

The councillors opted to move the decision to a community survey to get their input instead of adopting one of those designs as was recommended by Park Services.

That survey resulted in option A, tendered by 1-Stop Playgrounds, receiving 83 per cent of the vote, beating out option B, from Park N Play Design, which got 17 per cent. There were 246 votes in total.

The gathered councillors decided to adopt option A unanimously at Monday night's meeting.

Nine of the survey participants were under 18 while more than 70 per cent were from the 25-44 age group.

Over 72 per cent of respondents said that their immediate family members used the park, with some comments saying that they would if a new structure was installed.

The letter to council stated that small changes may be made in the ordering/installation process to adapt to the park space and atmosphere.
