The provincial government reported there were 61 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan Saturday, and 48 recoveries. This brought the number of active cases throughout Saskatchewan up to 562. 

The number of people in hospital receiving treatment for COVID-19 declined to 101, and 32 people were in intensive care. The number of hospitalizations due to COVID-19 is now the lowest since August 25th.  

Of the new cases that were reported on Saturday, 24 were in the Saskatoon region and 16 were in the Regina region. Five new cases were reported in North Central, three in the North West, Central East and South East regions, two in the Far North West and North East regions, and one new case in the South Central and Central West regions.  

When the new cases are broken down by age range, two were under the age of 4, four were between 5 and 11, six new cases between 12 and 19, 20 between the ages of 20 and 39, 24 in the 40-59 age group, four in the 60-79 age group and one over the age of 80. 

When it comes to vaccinations, there were 2,065 new doses reported on Saturday – 961 first doses and 1,104 second doses. So far, 72 percent of the province’s total population has now been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.  

The provincial government has expanded the access to COVID-19 booster vaccines. Starting Monday, anyone over the age of 18 who has received their second dose more than three months ago is eligible for the booster.
