An unofficial daily record for heat was set Tuesday in Estevan, with a high of 7.6 C.

That broke the previous record of 5 degrees for January 30, set in 1993.

Environment Canada attributes that heat to an upper ridge that has parked itself above the prairies for the time being.

It's possible more records fall over the next several days, with temperatures expected to continue reaching the high single digits.
