Estevan Comprehensive School hosted the senior boys' round-robin basketball tournament over the weekend.

Coach Trevor Dutka, said nine teams traveled to Estevan including teams from Regina, Weyburn, Lloydminster, and Yorkton.

"We had lots of fans out for our two games, and we really appreciate the community support,” said Dutka.

The Elecs came out on top in their first game 74-68 on Friday against Yorkton Regional. In their second game on Saturday, the Elecs were edged out by Lloydminster, who won the 78-67 game.

“I think every game was within 5 points, at halftime,” said Dutka. “In the second half, a couple of teams pulled away, but they were very close.”

The Elecs will be taking part in the McLeod series against Weyburn which will be on the home court on February 7. Estevan will then be head to Weyburn on February 14.

Regionals are being held in Lloydminster, with the top three teams going to the provincial championships. The Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association provincial HOOPLA tournament will be held in Prince Albert in the spring.
