In celebration of Library week, I made my way down to our local library to see how they were celebrating.

Lucas Reid the Branch Manager at the Estevan Public Library, "Were having the Saskatchewan Library Week events here, its a province wide celebration of libraries in Saskatchewan. And aside from our regular programming, we have at least one event each day specifically related to Library Week."

As for the variety of extra programming this week, "On Monday, we had free donuts and coffee all day for people to drop in, have some treats while they browse. Tuesday, we began a book mark making station, we have all the supplies for people to make their own custom book marks on the back table. Wednesday, we have a local author reading. A man named Paul Vollmin, he recently published a book called "Still Standing." and he is going to be coming in at 6 pm. Aside from that were also, offering a tween pumpkin decorating event Thursday afternoon. And on Friday, we have a kids mystery night and throughout the week ongoing we have a scavenger hunt starting Wednesday."

"Basically for the week long events, patrons can enter in to win our draw which will be picked on Saturday. Which is a $50.00 gift card from Indigo and Chapters. And also the book worm in a jar contest, its basically a jar full of gummy worms at the front desk and people can make an estimation of how many worms are in the jar. And we will also be drawing for that on Saturday as well. So those are just a few things happening aside from our regular programming."

Reid had this to say about his staff, "Everyone is pretty enthusiastic, and I have to thank all of the programmers and our other staff because of all they have put into that. They have come up with some pretty creative ideas, like the "I Spy" board, the gummy worms, scavenger hunt, just basically everything. And I'm happy that we were able to secure a local author because aside from all of our programs, we also have a literacy component to it as well. Which I think is important."

"Anyone can come down and take part in events and enter to win the prize of the gift card that we will draw for on Saturday. And you can enter to win with any event, you just have to fill out the form at the front desk."

Head down to the library and help them celebrate library week.
