The City of Estevan has released its budget ahead of 2024, looking at what kind of costs and revenues might be coming next year.

A two-per-cent property-tax increase was proposed by the administration, but no increase to utility rates was proposed.

From the General Operations Fund, revenue is expected to be $27,203,095, up from 2023's budget.

The general operating expenditures will be $24,912,067, above the number in the 2023 budget for a total net surplus of $2,291,028.

The Utility Operations Fund revenues meanwhile are in the budget at $6,413,496, another increase from the 2023 budget.

The expenditures in that category are at $5,079,555, representing a decrease from 2023's budget.

While the total surplus for the 2024 budget initially comes out to $3,624,969, projected capital costs of $4,294,693 mean that borrowing an amount to the tune of $669,724 will be required.

At the same time, the city is looking at a net long-term debt reduction of $1,385,197.

However, the above numbers do not include a provision for potential 2024 loan costs.

The city will be taking another look at the budget in January.
