Estevan Diversified Services unveiled a new van and logo on Wednesday afternoon, a project that's been in the works for quite a while.

The organization works with people who have intellectual and physical disabilities.

"We were really excited to show the community," said Executive Director Trisha Salmers. "Everyone is very excited about the van. People have probably seen us over the past year, driving this all over town without the logo, and so we needed the get the logo on."

EDS serves roughly 50 people in the community. President Susan Colbow said there was a definite need for an accessible van.

"When we opened our last group home all of the residents had no way to get around because they're all in Roto chairs or wheelchairs and so they had no way to get from place to place," Colbow said.

"'It's just like 'how do we move these people, how do they get to their appointments?' With all of the participants that we have in the community that belong to Estevan Diversified Services, we needed our own (van)."

Salmers said that everyone involved in the organization now calls it "The Party Van."

She added that the new logo represents the multiple support structures that exist at EDS. The design embodies two people intertwined.
