Approximately 170 kids and their parents were at the Orpheum Theatre Saturday for the Estevan Early Years Family Resource Centre's kid-friendly movie experience, with Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie on the big screen.

The centre's program director, Sydney Wanner, said they heard about some bigger cities hosting movie showings tailored for youngsters and decided to give it a try in Estevan.

"Basically the lights are dim, families are welcome to bring their strollers, the kids are allowed to move around, and they're allowed to talk quietly, it was all good," said Wanner. "It's basically to create a non-judgemental movie experience. And I think it worked because a lot of the families I talked to said it was their kid's very first movie, so that's amazing."

L&C Trucking sponsored 40 kids' admissions, all children under the age of three were free, and other seat prices were dropped to $9.

Wanner said they plan on doing another kid-friendly movie experience in December with a Christmas flick.
