As the provincial rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine continues, the southeast corner of the province isn't exactly priority one on the province's list. After all, through much of the pandemic, the southeast has been relatively unscathed compared to most other regions.

With an outbreak at a long-term care home in Weyburn, however, there will be at least some doses of the vaccine coming to the southeast soon. The province announced today that Weyburn was the destination for some of the next shipment of the Moderna vaccine.

According to the release, there will be 5400 doses of Moderna's vaccine arriving in Saskatchewan on January 14. Of those doses, 500 will be headed to the Far North East zone. The remaining 4900 will be split between long-term care homes in several communities, one of which is Weyburn.

The province has administered a total of  9,880 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Yesterday, there were 903 doses administered. The province expects to take a shipment of 6825 vaccines in Saskatoon today.

Premier Scott Moe announced today the province would be taking some measures to speed up vaccinations in the province, including administering all doses at once (including the doses they will receive in Saskatoon today).
