A former member of the Estevan Police Service that was convicted of assault after an incident that took place two years ago will now walk free without a criminal record.

Mohammed Khan, who at the time was a probationary constable on the force, was given an absolute discharge when he appeared in court in Estevan on March 3rd, 2017.

Khan was dismissed from his duties in 2015 after allegations of assault, abuse of authority and discreditable conduct were confirmed through both internal and independent investigation, and the case has been before the courts ever since.

The conclusion was handed down with the judge suggesting that the man had been punished enough by losing his job on the force.
