The 2023 Saskatchewan Winter Games are underway in Regina and some southeast athletes are off to a good start.

Carlyle's Alix Rae has won a gold medal in weightlifting, winning in the 45 KG Female category on Monday. It was Team Southeast's first medal of the games.

Meanwhile, the Team Fradette curling team from the Estevan Curling Club is off to a 2-0 start in the curling competition. They'll try to remain undefeated when they play again Tuesday afternoon against Team Southwest.

Team Southeast also has a bowling team competing in the Special Olympics event this week, which includes Estevan's Sarah Henry.
