When Brooke Wilson (age 17) and her sister, Paige (age 15), moved to Estevan with their family six years ago, they noticed that there were limited recreational dance options available in the area. In order to provide an affordable dance experience for all families, the Wilson sisters, together with the support of their mother Michelle, decided to open their dance studio two years ago. 

Estevan Recreational Dance Club finished their second dance season in March after a year of rapid growth. Approximately 500 people were in attendance at the 2018 recital, featuring 82 ERDC students. 

"We started our club two years ago in March of 2016," Wilson explained. "We just decided that there were very few options for dance in the city, so we decided to open our own club, more for recreational dance. We're a non-profit, so we try to keep our prices low so that kids from any situation can come and just have fun and dance."

Yesterday, ERDC wrapped up their first summer dance camp with a Summer Showcase, featuring children ages 4 - 17 who have been working on their dancing skills this past week. The Summer Showcase was hosted at Pleasantdale School and pre-registration was open to the families of participants. 

When asked about the upcoming dance season, which begins in September and goes until March, Wilson told us; "We offer ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, and musical theatre for kids 3 and up. We also have an all boys hip hop class and an adult contemporary class."
