Saskatchewan's premier says the province must have a say in the potential sale of PotashCorp, but he doesn't want the issue to become too political.

Brad Wall says he expects the federal government to listen to Saskatchewan's concerns before it approves any deal to sell the Saskatoon-based company.

Australian mining giant BHP Billiton is offering more than 38 billion dollars for PotashCorp but PotashCorp's CEO says the company is potentially worth tens of billions more.

Wall says a government task force and an independent consultant are looking at the province's options, which could include legislation.

But he adds the Saskatchewan government needs to take a measured approach because investment can be good for the province.
